Candle fan that I am, I have to tell you about my most recent discovery: MilkJar Candles.
The Milk Jar Company was born in founder Holly Singer's kitchen in November 2016. She wanted to fulfill two of her desires: to bring clean, beautifully scented candles to the local market, and to serve as a way to give back.
Years before, while studying kinesiology at university, Holly developed a close friendship with a boy with cerebral palsy and his mother. Always marked by the resilience of people with disabilities and the obstacles they face, Holly's goal was to raise $500 in Milk Jar's first year for programs that support learning and growth. Little did she know that Milk Jar would have a much bigger impact than she could have imagined.
Six years later, Milk Jar has become a household name in Calgary. Not only is Milk Jar incredibly proud to promote inclusive employment, but it is also recognized for its annual donations to nonprofit organizations that support initiatives for inclusion and safe workplaces. $1 for every candle sold supports the creation of inclusive spaces, totaling $276,000 in donations over the past 6 years.
