I've always been a big fan of playing the tourist. I can spend hours on blogs, Instagram, and Google, finding local favorites and must-see attractions in the cities I'm about to visit.
When I arrived in Magog in 2021, I did exactly the same thing: look for the best places to eat well, build community, and do my shopping.
I thought: why not share with you these places which, even after 5 years, are still part of my daily life and which have won my heart?
Let’s start with my must-see foodie addresses:
Café Géogène (Third wave)
Literally my second home, and our dear neighbors.
Magog's Café Géogène opened the same week as the boutique, so I can't imagine my experience there without my morning coffee... for 3 years now.
The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming to all, perfect for teleworking.
It's truly a safe space for my heart and, honestly, the best coffee in town.
My order every morning: Oat milk latte (not too hot)
Om Plante (Vegan)
At Om Plante, people always welcome you with joyful hearts. A vegan restaurant with a touch of Brazilian magic, it's a warm and vibrant little corner of love. The food is simply delicious, whether you're vegan or not, it's definitely a MUST.
My favorite dish: Mexitacommm tapioca crepe
Two Tomatoes (Cooks-Wine Merchants)
From starters to desserts and pizzas, everything is carefully prepared on site.
A perfect option for picking up a good pizza and some natural wine to enjoy in the park. They favor fresh, seasonal, quality products, mostly from Quebec!
My favorite pizza: La funghi
Mifigue (Restaurant Café)
A new arrival in Orford since the fall and we are truly delighted!
The sandwiches are delicious, and their terrace is absolutely beautiful. We love going there after a hike on Mount Orford.
The owner and team are always super welcoming.
They often host dinner pop-ups , so it's definitely worth checking out in advance to plan your visits!
My favorite sandwich: Grilled Halloumi (and what about the scones!!!)
Alessa Trattoria Magog
At Alessa, you'll find dishes to share, perfectly crispy Neapolitan pizzas, savory pastas, and generous starters. It's the perfect place for a dinner with friends or a relaxing get-together with a good bottle of Italian wine.
Their menu is simple but well thought out, and the prices are affordable. It's also perfect for takeout , so you can eat by the water!
My order: Linguini a la gigi + Rucola salad
Marilau Farm - 100% local butcher shop
Located in Orford, Ferme Marilau is a true family business, just the way we like them: passionate, rooted in its community, and committed to respectful agriculture.
Their meat is produced locally, with a focus on quality and animal welfare, then sold directly on-site at the butcher's. No middlemen, just quality products, accessible and made with love.
It's the perfect place to stock up before an afternoon BBQ with family or friends.
Here are some additional suggestions that might complement your gourmet or practical getaway to Magog and the surrounding area:
- Chez Paul Canteen
- Micro of the Cantons
- Octave
- Koz

- Woods snack
- Café Bowen (new)
- Oysters from the Eastern Townships
- Austin Plots
I could do this all day, there are so many places to discover... but I'll keep the list updated from time to time with my latest news!
